Altamira is one of the main winegrowing regions in the southern Uco Valley. We are located in the province of Mendoza, Argentina. The Uco Valley, in particular, is famous for its high altitude, with vineyards planted on soils that are perfect for growing high quality grapes. The vines in this area benefit from a large temperature range between day and night, which contributes to the slow and complete ripening of the grapes, while preserving their freshness and acidity. Among the most common varieties grown in Altamira is undoubtedly Malbec, which is the predominant variety in the entire Mendoza region. And it is precisely from a pure processing of Malbec that Bodega Manos Negras obtains this Stone Soil. In this case, the grapes come from vineyards located as high as 4000 metres, on stony soils rich in calcium carbonate. These soils, very poor in organic matter and very rich in minerals, allow the winery to naturally lower yields and focus on quality. This is why the Malbec of Manos Negras can be considered as the natural expression of these rocky soils. A wine of good character and great personality, it is already good today but does not disdain waiting some time in the cellar. It can be uncorked at a nice all-meat dinner. Fantastic with grilled sausages and mature cheeses. ...
