Lacrima is an ancient grape variety, cultivated exclusively in the territory of Morro d'Alba. Legend has it that its origins date back to 1100 when it was used to produce Frederick Barbarossa's favourite wine. Difficult to grow compared to the better known international varieties, it has long been at risk of extinction. It is thought, in fact, that when the DOC was recognized in 1985, there were only 7 hectares left. The name Lacrima comes from its fragile skin, which tends to break when it ripens, leaving purple tears dripping down. The one proposed here by Marotti Campi is vinified in steel and aged for 12 months in used barriques, therefore neutral from the point of view of the transfer of fragrances. In the glass it has a beautiful deep ruby red colour with violet hues. On the nose rose, blackberry, pink pepper and juniper berries. In the mouth it is fruity and spicy, with soft tannins. ...
