Tenuta Il Cascinone is located in the heart of the Alto Monferrato, south of the province of Asti. The hills, with altitudes varying between 200 and 400 metres, offer an ideal habitat for growing quality grapes. Merit also goes to the clay soil with a strong limestone component that offers a perfect water balance to the vines, contributing to the minerality and structure of the wine. Avamposti Altrove, Monferrato DOC, comes from a pure processing of Nebbiolo grapes, Piedmont's main variety. Traditional training techniques, with a planting density of 4,000-4,500 vines per hectare, guarantee a limited yield and superior grape quality. Harvesting is manual, with careful selection of the best bunches. In the cellar, after a gentle crushing, the must ferments at a controlled temperature to preserve the delicate aromas of Nebbiolo. Subsequent maturation takes place in oak barrels, where the wine matures for several months, developing aromatic complexity and a balanced tannic structure. Ruby red in colour with garnet highlights, a sign of its maturity, the nose of this wine offers a complex aromatic bouquet with floral, plum and berry notes, balanced by savoury hints that add depth. In the mouth, the wine is juicy and enveloping, with flavours of ripe plum and black cherry. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, while the finish is long and slightly spicy, with a persistence that invites another sip. Avamposti Altrove is the ideal companion for red meat dishes.
