Dolcetto is a native grape variety of Piedmont, appreciated for its ability to produce fresh and fruity wines, with good structure and soft tannins. Despite its name, Dolcetto produces dry wines, characterised by fruity notes and a slightly bitter finish. Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba, in particular, has obtained the DOCG designation, which attests to its excellence and typicality. Located in the heart of the Langhe region of Piedmont, Diano d'Alba is a picturesque village known for its winemaking tradition and breathtaking views. This hilly area, characterised by clayey and calcareous soils, offers ideal conditions for the cultivation of high quality grapes. At the Stefano Farina Estates, the Dolcetto harvest takes place in the first ten days of September, when the grapes reach optimal ripeness. Aged exclusively in steel, this wine preserves its natural freshness and aromatic integrity. Bright ruby red in colour, the nose reveals a pleasantly vinous aroma, with dominant notes of red fruit such as cherry and morello cherry. On the palate the wine is dry, with good acidity and a nice balance. It has a pleasant freshness and a slightly bitter note on the finish. Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba goes well with meat-based dishes, such as roasts, grilled meats and game.
